Gold battles with $US1,200 per ounce. So how is it doing in $NZ?  Click here

Welcome to www.nzgold.org the website that Caerleon Publishing Limited began in early 2006. The sites offers information and research about gold, silver, politics, health issues, and the New Zealand lifestyle. Our primary objective is to add a uniquely Kiwi voice to the small, but growing body of opinion around the world, that sees gold and silver as an antidote to the financial recklessness of politicians. The reprehensible 'lolly scramble' that characterized the 2005 general election campaign served to crystallize our thinking. Furthermore, the election of a National government in 2008 gives us little comfort - and we suspect New Zealand's journey along Friedrich von Hayek's 'Road to Serfdom' will continue. As we consider the nation's appalling balance of payments situation and shocking levels of personal debt we are concerned, that like Britain, New Zealand is being 'bankrupted by design'. Within this we believe that discerning Kiwis should consider some 'financial insurance' via gold & silver.

Yet we are also committed to the view that money is not everything.  Indeed, we regret the extent to which a 'wealth obsession' seems to have infected New Zealand in recent years - especially when its foundations are substantially reposed on the 'fools-gold' of inflated property prices. Around the world an alarming but inevitable realisation is dawning - 'easy money' cannot make the average person sustainably better off. At nzgold we can see no reason why New Zealand should be immune from this truth, especially given its flabbergasting accumulation of debt in recent years. This is a theme we have consistently argued at nzgold - warning in our various articles that the great credit boom was a new 'opium of the people' that would end very unpleasantly. Moreover, we see an alarming synergy between the seductive folly of 'easy money' and the increasingly authoritarian nature of government. Our fear, when we began nzgold, was that New Zealand would come to imitate Britain's tragic and rapidly accelerating loss of personal liberties. It was why we included the 'England Expects' section of the website, which we hoped would 'shock' our readers into doing their bit - however small - to stop the same slide towards a repressive state emerging here. Events have vindicated our view! Since posting the site's inaugural article in May 2006 we have seen the New Zealand government attempt to restrict free speech and open debate. We suspect that this is just the opening salvo!

Hopefully, visitors will find www.nzgold.org useful.  We do not claim to be precious metals 'gurus' but we have undertaken a great deal of research since 1999 - when then British Chancellor Gordon Brown sold a large portion of his nation's gold reserves at a derisory price! That action signaled the nadir of gold's long bear market and suggested to us that a new precious metals paradigm was imminent. Our conviction that gold and silver may have a vital role to play in New Zealand's financial future has steadily grown. If not for our own sakes, then for those of our children, we thus make a stand against the dangerous beast that is paper money - backed by nothing more than the worthless promises of politicians.
